Elisabeth Selbert: A strong voice for legal equality in Germany

We created an animated film portraying Elisabeth Selbert, a trailblazer for gender equality in Germany post-World War II.

Her remarkable efforts resulted in the inclusion of Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Basic Law, which determined equal rights for men and women.
Despite the traditional gender roles of her time, Elisabeth pursued her education, studied law, and actively advocated for women's rights in politics while raising two children.
Facing opposition in the Parliamentary Council, it took all of her unfaltering perseverance and determination, to establish the law "Men and women have equal rights" in the constitution of 1949.

We were inspired by Elisabeth's biography and persistence. Our aim is to spread awareness about her life and legacy. Through her story, we want to encourage others to follow in her footsteps. Even today, we must remain committed to promoting and practicing gender equality and advocate it with a "LOUD" voice.
For the motion design, I developed a distinctive collage-inspired look that reflects our eco-conscious, DIY-oriented target audience.
All shapes were carefully cut from magazines and scanned to preserve their natural shadows. Colors were digitally adjusted for a harmonious overall appearance.
I deliberately avoided using photos of real people or artificial analog effects like the Posterize effect in After Effects to steer clear of clichés and stereotypes.

Clarity and structure were essential to ensure the visuals effectively support the information, while also consciously avoiding gender stereotypes.
