In this absurd and satirical reinterpretation of Kleist‘s ‘Michael Kohlhaaas’, ‘I love Horses’ shows an ensemble in the setting of a horse show that fights for the leading role of Michael Kohlhaas, while justice, power structures and the myth of the hero are deconstructed in a humorous and performative way, thus criticising patriarchal power structures.
These projections add a surreal, almost mystical dimension to the set.
The horse's head, which towers over the stage, is particularly impressive and a role model for the the characters. It looks down on the action with a lofty, critical air.
